Our Mission
To help improve the lives of some of the most marginalised in a destitute region of southern Cambodia, through education, social awareness and empowerment. We are raising funds to build our school and community centre, hire more teachers locally and for outreach projects into the community.
The students will always study for free. We do not charge them any fees, ever. This is aimed to help the poorest families access education in a remote rural area
Our organisation is truly a non-profit grassroots community organisation, every penny and cent goes towards achieving our goal of building a school, paying fair wages to Cambodian staff, involving them in the running and direction of the charity and one day a community centre to empower the local community and improve their welfare and knowledge.
Operating on a budget from donations primarily ensuring we pay our Cambodian staff a fair and decent wages, we are also raising funds to build our school from the ground up. The three founding members have set up the organisation at significant private cost to themselves, whilst expecting nothing monetarily in return. Our purpose is to progress the lives of the kids in community first through education and knowledge, and one day in the future, once we have the funds, reach out to empower the local community through outreach projects projects involving demonstrating best practices, infrastructure development, poverty support and awareness raising of important issues, such as climate change and how to face it, sanitation, gender inequality and child welfare.
We intend to generate some longer term funding from having qualified western volunteer teachers staying and teaching for long periods (no voluntourism here, this will not be a one or two week experience between partying!) and will need to build accommodation and facilities for that in the future, but we need your help getting there!
Please donate if you can, everything helps and we are currently entirely funded by donations
We always need to pay full time Khmer teachers, to ensure there is teaching all year round. Paying Khmer staff well is essential and that requires $300 hundred dollars a month for a full time teacher. We wish to pay our teachers and staff more than minimum salary in order to offer these local staff a better quality of life for their families.
